FIVE IMPORTANT INSTITUTIONS IN THE DEBT COLLECTION CYCLE IN TANZANIA

Every institution is important in its time. But there are institutions that are fundamental in the whole issue of debt collection.

1. Local Governments Authorities

These are very important people because they are the ones who stay and know the people of the respective neighborhood. Sometimes the debtor may deliberately refuse to cooperate with the debt collector. These local government people often use their leadership skills when they are needed or asked to do so and help solve the problem.

2. Employers and trade union

These are where the debtor has put his salary as collateral. the employer should be the first person to get information about this loan. if there is a payment challenge, the employer is the first person to help the recovery of this loan.

3. Credit Reference Bureau

This are an entity specialized in the collection and sale of credit performance information for individuals and companies. It is wise to know credit history of the debtor. But this history should not cover personal information.

4. Police.

The Police is the first legal body responsible for protecting the safety of citizens and their property. They aim to provide services that will enable the detection, prevention and control of crime within the United Republic of Tanzania. If in the process of monitoring debts there will be actions that disturb peace, the police force is the instrument that will ensure peace returns.

5. Judiciary

The court is the main body of justice in Tanzania. If a person fails to pay after being asked to do so, the only body with the final authority to order a person to pay is the court. the court will issue an order on what to do if the debt owed by someone is unable to be paid.
